Refugee Festival Scotland 2022
The countdown is now well and truly on for the highly anticipated Refugee Festival starting on Friday 17th June.
The women are very much looking forward to hearing stories from different communities and getting along to some of the great events organised.
Below is a small selection of some of the Glasgow, Edinburgh or online events that the women are looking forward to:
Letters of Hope by Milk Café

Founded in 2015, MILK is a social enterprise set up to empower and support refugee and migrant women living in Glasgow. Letters of Hope is a free open-air exhibition around Glasgow’s much loved Queen’s Park. A series of letters and postcards will be decorated at their Peer Support Group in the months before the festival and will used to make a walking trail that you can follow.
New Scots Storytelling on the Isle of Bute by SAWA Refugee Programme

New Scots Storytelling on the Isle of Bute is a short film celebrating our universal love of stories.
The film features New Scots who have settled in Rothseay and surrounding towns and villages on the island. Each person will share traditional stories from their countries of origin and the film will be available to watch on YouTube from 23rd June.
Home Sweet Scotland: World Foodie Boogie by OneRen

OneRen is holding a mini festival as part of the Refugee Festival Scotland celebrations in Paisley. Join them for a rich global fusion of food, music, crafts, stalls and Jambo! Radio. Home Sweet Scotland is a family friendly event, suitable for all ages from 0 to 100.
Stories From Syria by ReAct: Refugee Action Scotland SCIO

Stories From Syria is a record of the life journey of elderly Syrian refugees who have made Scotland their new home. This event is a celebration of the creation of this book and an opportunity to enjoy Syrian food and music in the company of the authors.
Community Meal: Sharing Food and Stories by Glasgow Autonomous Space

Join members of Glasgow’s refugee and migrant community for a special celebration of food and the power it has to bring people together. This barbecue and pot luck has been organised by the Language Exchange and Glasgow Autonomous Space. Come to enjoy music, stories, recipe sharing and of course, food.
New Scots meet a New Generation by Ubuntu Scotland

Ubuntu Scotland invites you and your children to a family-friendly event led by young people from different backgrounds.
Scottish school children and their New Scots classmates have worked together to prepare a fun-filled afternoon of games and storytelling. The young people will share their stories and experiences and you’re welcome to share yours too!
MIN’s 21st Birthday Party by Maryhill Integration Network

Maryhill Integration Network (MIN) welcomes the whole community to their 21st Birthday celebration.
Join them for an evening of live music, dance and song. Their party will tell the story of MIN’s 21-year history through a focus on arts and culture. The event aims to showcase the incredible cultural fabric of our city and will be a highlight of the Refugee Festival Scotland 2022.
