Welcome event in Centre 81
Last week we welcomed New Scot women, who have sought safety and resettled in Scotland because of the crisis in Afghanistan, to Centre 81 to our group session. The women in our group had been planning this event for a while and we were excited to finally meet them.
With the help of our Pashto and Arabic interpreters we chatted and got to know each other. We listened to a presentation about free bus travel in Scotland for under 22’s and ways New Scots access it. We also spoke about the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day, Break the Bias.
One of the women in the group is an amazing poet and helped us all write some poetry around how Moments of Freedom makes us feel. This is going to be compiled into one big poem that we will share on our social media.
We had a great time and will continue to welcome more New Scots women to our group sessions over the coming months.
